Grammys 2020

Grammys 2020 was like no other. I had the wonderful pleasure of representing a team of Pro Makeup Artists who were referred & booked by me for camera ready glam & touch-ups. Winners of the 62nd annual Grammys were revealed on January 26 in a two-part event. The majority of the 84 Grammy Awards were handed out at the non-televised Premiere Ceremony, which began at 12:30pm pacific time at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles. The televised portion of the Grammys took place across the street at the Staples Center. It started on CBS at 5:00 p.m. pacific time. Winners in the top 10 categories were announced during a three-and-a-half hour concert that was hosted for the second time by 15-time Grammy Winner "Alicia Keys".  See full and complete list of winners at the 62nd annual Grammy Awards below.

Lizzo opened the show with a dynamic performance while also leading the year’s list of nominees with eight total nominations, including album of the year, song of the year, record of the year and best new artist. Following Lizzo are Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X, each with six nominations. Record of the year nominations went to H.E.R. for “Hard Place”, Billie Eilish for “Bad Guy", Bon Iver for “Hey, Ma", Ariana Grande for “7 Rings", Khalid for “Talk”, Lizzo for “Truth Hurts”, Post Malone & Swae Lee for “Sunflower"and Lil Nas X for “Old Town Road”. One of the most coveted awards of the night, best new artist nominees include Black Pumas, Yola, Maggie Rogers, Tank and the Bangas, Lil Nas X, Lizzo and Billie Eilish.

What made the Grammys quite different this year was of course the shocking news re: Basketball Legend "Kobe Bryant". A devastating & very tragic announcement that shook our entire nation just hours before the Grammys. With heavy hearts, the show went on with a mighty push & stunning fashion looks as many performed in mourning, in shock all while honoring the great Kobe Bryant. Nipsy Hussle was honored as well. Two great legends who both made a huge impact within our communities, our industry and to our world. Even as I type, my hands tremble; heart extremely heavy with pain & disbelief. I was so proud of the way Alicia Keys hosted the Grammys in effort to honor & uplift the audience and with the world watching. She was dynamic! The dedication she sang a Capella with & Boys II Men was quite beautiful & heart felt as well. It was tough for everyone, including those behind the scenes and everyone present as you could feel the heaviness & deeply sad energy throughout the entire atmosphere inside of the Staples Center, throughout the entire city of LA and around the world. You can still feel it! There's no escape from it. With many outstanding performances, I cannot stress how proud I am of how everyone joined together to make Grammys 2020 a great success in spite of the unexpected tragedy, the pain, along with all of the behind the scenes controversy with The Recording Academy. With the world's tremendous shock & the news of numerous lives being lost just hours prior, everyone managed to get through the evening. As a city filled with many of the most innovative talent & profound creatives, the Grammy's production team, all artists with dynamic ability, quickly shifted and so did the beautiful city of Los Angeles as it expeditiously lit up brightly with memorable moments of Kobe & great images within the Staples Center, throughout surrounding areas and throughout the entire city of LA demonstrating such true love & great respect all in honor of the legendary Kobe Bryant.

A big congratulations to all 2020 Grammy Award Nominees & Winners! It's truly a blessing to see the tremendous hard work & dedication of artists pay off in such a mighty way. I blog today saddened, but yet very inspired to live each day with great purpose; working towards every goal & dream with purpose while sharing the greatness of others. Let's encourage ourselves & everyone around us to do so. Stay tuned for purposeful tips as I schedule future interviews with many of the best who work hard & live daily to fulfill their purpose & do what they love, no matter what.
